I've been thinking about this for awhile, as have many others. IF December 21, 2012 is the end of time, as the Mayans predicted, and IF NASA and the world's religions and prophets are correct, then locating the proper place on Earth to experience this transition, if any, should be our No. 1 priority.
My first impression as to where to go for this thing was Key West. Why? Maybe for the atmosphere, Keno sandals, sand, surf, rum, Papa Hemingway, and Sloppy Joe's. Maybe because it's a straight shot down the coast to warmer weather, or the laid-back people who always seem unaffected by anything. The biggest reason might be avoidance of air travel at such an unknown time, making a trip to the Alps the wrong answer. I know a number of people who think Hawaii is the place to be for 2012, but I'm pretty sure an island isn't the best place to be IF our tectonic plates shift 180 degrees, causing tsunamis and earthquakes on a world-wide scale.
My attentions focused on the south-west US as a better place because of the great distance from oceans, lack of people, lots of high country, and the spirituality that seems to ooze from that place. What better place to be when the end of time gets here than where the Hopi plan to ride it out? I was reaffirmed after finding the Hopi prophecy I posted earlier. Like, "Hey man, you're on target now".
Then it came to me as I was driving over the mountains a few miles from here. Why go to high country 2,000 miles away when we have geological stability right here?
Lawrence Joseph, author of "Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End," says that Jerusalem, Angkor Wat, the Vatican and Mecca might be natural choices but, no, "of all the sacred sites in the world, none embodies the sacred Mayan values of service to humanity and Mother Earth like the town of Berea, Kentucky."
So, I began looking into Berea Kentucky. Seems like a nice college town filled with yuppies and greenies with a profound sense of recycling and a lively real estate boom, thanks to Larry's book. It's also in a DRY COUNTY. So much for Berea. I mean, if I plan to survive 2012, I sure as shit won't be doing it without plenty of alcohol at my fingertips! Besides, who ever heard of a college town without liquor stores, bars, and drunken college students? PREPOSTEROUS!
That's when I gave up the search and realized the best place to ride out the Apocalypse would be right here, where the liquor store, beer store, drug store, and grocery store are all in the same strip mall 2 miles away. It's not as high as the Rockies, but the Appalachians are high enough and geologically stable, with plenty of hardwood, fresh water and populated by survivalists who know how to mind their own business but can band together at a moment's notice. So what if the local cop shop doesn't open til 4pm? That's a good thing, cause we all have enough guns to take care of our own. I know all the roads and getting from point A to point B, bypassing the interstates using back roads would be a real advantage. This valley is pretty much anonymous, and this place is anonymous even for valley inhabitants, making it an excellent place to hole up for the possible nine-month nuclear winter.
Mass exodus from the cities, roving gangs of predator humans, and instant homelessness will be the biggest problems to overcome. Instituting martial law and bringing our troops home to maintain order sans habeus corpus won't be the best idea for anyone. but it IS a distinct possibility you and your family could be arrested and incarcerated in separate holding pens for no reason whatsoever.
It COULD happen. We just don't know, but you can bet the government has contingency plans and they'll institute them at a moments notice. Best you start stocking up on essentials like matches, food and water. Get some warm clothing and learn to forage. Those unable to cope will be the first to go, and that goes for all those SUV-driving pseudo-survivalists who think their Hummers will save their sorry asses. Money won't be worth much. It's intrinsic value will be reduced to zero and a can of beans will get you more than a thousand dollar bill so don't expect your bank account to bail you out, unless you convert it to precious metals or a useful commodity.
I can't speak for everyone, but I plan on sticking around to see how this thing turns out. How about you?

2012 is not so much about survival as it's about big inevitable change, ascension and evolution of our consciousness as one divine collective thought network, guiding us to higher realms, higher dimensions of existence !

84735, you're correct. This big, inevitable change will happen but I'm afraid there will be a period of at least 9 months of total breakdown of society before we transform to the next level.
I'm looking forward to 2012. It's the biggest event since man first walked the Earth but I know how a city like New York will react when the lights go out and food and water supplies stop and the monetary system grinds to a halt.
Even though our DNA is adapting to the higher dimensions of existence we're all destined for, it's still important to protect out bodies for this change, and that means surviving the onslaught of predatory humans who resist this change.
But I wouldn't have it any other way. We're at the right time and the right place, bud. And I'm lovin' it.
Can't see how one place will be better suited than the next. Who knows exactly how the cards will play out. My guess is burry your ass deep in a cave with enough food, water, medicine, and firepower to give yourself a small chance. If you come up breathing your odds improve. Still searching for the answer.
I'm working on an answer, right now as we speak, bud.
It's not so much a preparation with food, shelter and ammo but we gotta get head straight or we won't make it.
When we do go out it'll be because we want to, not because we're forced to.
The idea that you posted a comment on this very subject, just as I was formulating the plan, is a synronisity showing me I'm on the right track.

I'm 12 years old, and ive been studying 2012 and it seems like somthing major is going to happen durring 2012. im only convinced becouse the same people that predicted 911, ww1, and ww2 predictted somthing about 2012. no one really knows what those phycics

Me and my best friend (not just some friend)have talked about this.
We might live far away from eachother in 2012 and we dont want to loose contact of each-other! We decided if we end up loosing contact we shud meet some-wher like colorado. we are not sher.
If we stay in contact, or meet up, we want to build some sort of small under-ground bunker with erbs (vegitibols) like tomatoes, carriots and other stuff. we would also includ plants for air. Guns for self defence and hunting.
But, as i sead im only 12, and im not a adult. if you guys have any advice about what ive talked about, or tips. pleas, feel free to reply.

If you're thinking about sitting it out in Colorado, best you get together all the details before the move, like warm clothing, a way to carry your provisions, learn to forage, and get familiar with the territory. In other words, be prepared to go caveman.
I tend to think only those who can adapt to the new paradigm will thrive in the days before 2012 and your age suggests your DNA will adapt better than most. The boy scout in me says be prepared and that goes for my spiritual self as well.

Actually, it'll be more like a spiritual change but our DNA is upgrading as we speak. Sorta like upgrading your computer hardware to handle the new software.
Simply put, 2012 will be a calendar date that gives us a time frame when the program is finished downloading, and when the program runs, reality will be what you make it. Time and space will no longer be linear and traveling through time will be like walking across your living room.
If the theory is correct, you won't have to meet your friend in Colorado. You can meet anywhere at any time with the slightest thought.
But then again, anything can happen, right?
lol, ya. me and my family (mom,step-dad,gandma,grandpa) are all going to theair 3 story house in calirodo, the bottom floor is half under ground half on, becouse their home is on a mountain. we are going to put sand bags around the bottom floor to maximize the wall streinghth they have a AK-47 at the home, we have a glock 17 with us, but we are getting a mp5,or m4 , we havent guite decided, but im gunna do some resurch on the 2 guns, my dad in california doasnt beleave all this, but he has 3 guns, 2 for my brother and sister, and one for himself. so i think were pretty well taken care of. whan we go to the house, or future bunker we will bring plantts and herbs to grow our own vegitbols. water can be found everywher their. for meet, well just leav that to the deer thet hang at the house. I'd stock up on lots of vitamins to maintain health and as much potassium iodide as you can get your hands on, just in case there's a nuclear exchange. I wouldn't trust growing veggies unless I had a decent light source and generator to handle it. IF a nuclear exchange happens, we can look forward to a nuclear winter where you won't get much sunlight, our machines will stop working, and you'll most likely be hunting radioactive meat. Best get your food stores in order before you need them and everyone else is in the woods with guns.
I'm torn between leaving for Ecuador or staying put with enough supplies to last at least nine months. I'll probably opt for the latter cause I can't wait to see how this thing turns out.

I totally agree with you Bamboo, but the boy scout in me says be prepared for any eventuality. Although war will definitely end by 2012, it's the three years before that time comes where anything can happen. There's a 90% chance I won't need my weapon, but history tells us that the defenseless are the first to go.
A visit to any gun shop will show you there's a definite lack of ammo on the shelves. Sales are relatively constant but the supply is down. Why? Is there something in the works? What's Washington up to?
If the government doesn't want me to have guns and ammo, I can't think of a better reason to have them.
Sure, the pen is mightier than the sword but when the internet goes down, all we'll have is computer #1, us, and that means relying on self protection.

My best advice is to stock up on food and ammo and have several weapons that use the same ammo. Convert your perishable foods to dried food or jerky and find a good water purification system and solar generator. Get in good physical shape now because you'll need it when our machines break down. Get a shortwave radio and keep in contact with other survivors. Stock up on as much vitamins and potassium iodide as you can get your hands on. Grow tobacco and distill whiskey. They'll be useful barter for anything, anywhere.
Learn to live like a Spartan is the key.

Yes, just stock up on canned food (and water, the type of food that can last longer untill opened.) to last you a full YEAR. (if you have a family, double it by how many people are in this with you.)
Stock up on sleeping bags, blankets, even a tent. If Technoligy does fail, and theirs an earthquake, your house might get unsafe for living. And you will be forced to abandon it. (its better then having your roof fall and kill you, or a gas leak)
Yes, have a weapon. And not just a gun, they only last as long as you have bullets. Have a sword or hunting knife, if you kill a wild animal you cant use a gun to skin you food and remove the meat..
Keep a good book, something to pass your free time. Who knows? if 2012 does happen it might be your only treasure. And you can share the story with future generations, if we are lucky.

At last, a voice of reason. I too am happy to see the demise of the whole, social order. As far as a place to go, I figure it has to be northern Arizona. The Hopi believe they will be spared. They've been through a half dozen Earth wipeouts and they're still around. Besides, the Hopi believe themselves to be from Mayan decent. As far as I'm concerned, this carries a lot of truth. I plan to scope out the area soon.

First of all sorry for my english. Hope you'll understand me. I can be wrong about this, but thinking about a lot of things together, I'm pretty sure about the right place to be in 2012: up in the highest mountain of Africa. There's two major reasons. First, Africa, because it's the continent who have moved less itself (remember when all the continents where one) and because that, it's the part of ground more stable. Other ones, specially America, are really inestable. Second, height, after the "whats going to happen" it's supposed to be waves taller than 2km, so being in the highest place possible is a must thing.
So that's basically for me the only important reasons. Don't do it too difficult. Best place geographically, and highest place.
Any really other important thing? Not speculations, real crucial stuff.

Well, I am looking to move too. I currently live in Iowa and there are times when getting out of here just sounds good, if for nothing else but to just get out of this boring place. I used to live in Arizona and recommend the white mountain area or flagstaff area. As far as wandering around on Hopi lands... I'd be careful.

Some continents will completely be separated or broke in two if it's china arks won't mean a thing especially newly built ones... Just the logistics of such a journey is mind boggling. Besides, IF China had arks I don't think I'd care to spend the rest of my life with the very people who have made life so miserable for every human on the planet. It's a big club and we aint invited. I'd rather take my chances with Mother Earth.
I am not scared or nervous for this to come. I am just scarred of the unprepared to be surrounding me. Should I take my kids out of school and move them far away and start home schooling them? or do I carry on and see what hapends? This is driving me nuts and I cant sleep at night because all I think about is what can I do to get out of here.
Brook, since I don't know anything about where you live... city, town, country, I can't give you an answer on this but I can make a suggestion. Don't panic! I don't believe this change will be an abrupt chaotic state where overnight your neighbors will suddenly become zombies looking for brains. It'll be more of a spiritual awakening that everyone will feel, some sooner than others.
I'd say just be aware and pay attention. Trust your intuition and it will guide you to where you need to be.
well let me tell you that i am graced to be in your aura. Love is the key to changing this world. Inter dimensional shifts are quite possible and are very real. Ok 4 things I know to look for location-wise.
1. We have a supervolcano in the US and you won't want to be anywhere in the western or mid-west states.
2. Look up a map of nuclear power plants and avoid them.
3. Get inland from the seas and the northern lake bodies and south of those lake bodies. The northern lakes of the us will flood inland and the us may be divided into two sections with water in the middle. If you look at elevations you can get an idea of what is safe.
